MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
between
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALISTS
and the
FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION
Section 1. This Memorandum of
Understanding results from the negotiations between the Parties relating to the
effects of implementation of the Global Positioning System (GPS) on the U.S.
Notams System and the Model 1 Full Capacity System.
Section 2. The FAA will make available to all employees in the NAATS
bargaining unit printed material that describes GPS and its use in the Air
Traffic System.
Section 3. Prior to the software upgrade to the Model 1 Full Capacity
System that provides for processing information on GPS at Automated Flight
Service Stations, the FAA will provide formal structured training classes to all
employees in the NAATS bargaining unit with training that should include:
A thorough briefing on GPS and its use in the Air Traffic
System.
Viewing of videotapes designed for the training of
employees of the Air Traffic System.
Section 4. The training in section 3
above will be conducted at the Automated Flight Service Stations and the Flight
Service Stations.
Section 5. The FAA will provide updated training as significant changes
occur in the NAS system regarding the GPS system.
